What the data shows

Each amount below is the total of General Payments reported to a named physician or teaching hospital in the CMS Open Payments release for Program Year 2024. General Payments can include categories such as consulting fees, honoraria, food and beverage, travel, education, gifts, charitable contributions, royalties or licenses, and compensation for services. The figures document a reported financial relationship, not a conclusion about a recipient's care, prescribing, competence, or conduct.

Some high totals are associated with academic medical centers, clinical-trial activity, licensed inventions, or formal professional services. This guide therefore does not label any recipient as unethical or assign a "risk" score from the amount alone.
